Mr Maxsted has also flagged plans to exit the chairmanship at Transurban, but has not put a hard date on his exit from the toll road company after being elected for a further three years in 2019.
While opposition to Mr Maxsted’s re-election to the BHP board in November was small at 2.6 per cent, he had more votes cast against his re-election than any other BHP director and he also had the highest number of votes abstained at about 3 per cent of the register.
