A man and a child have died in a holiday tragedy in Western Australia.
The incident happened at a camping ground at Wedge Island, 90 minutes’ drive north of Perth, yesterday morning.
A woman was flown to Royal Perth Hospital in the RAC Rescue helicopter.
Western Australia Police said there could have been fault with an item of camping gear in the family’s tent.
Crews from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services have since removed the equipment, and police are investigating.
Police said they were called to a child who was not breathing, at a beach on the mainland, 8km from the island access road alongside St John Ambulance at 10.50am.
They found a man and a child dead, and a woman who needed urgent medical help.
Police want to speak to anybody who was camping in the area.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
