Meghan Markle is “furious” that her estranged father Thomas Markle Snr. tried to drag her mother into his ongoing public rift with the royals.
Since her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, which her father didn’t attend, Meghan has faced regular public criticism from Markle, who has continued to speak to the press about his daughter despite her requests for privacy.
Over the last 18 months of their estrangement Meghan has remained composed in the face of her father’s antics, but the duchess is reportedly fuming after discovering that Markle tried to get Doria Ragland involved.
According to The Sun, Markle wrote to Ragland and asked her to help him reconnect with their daughter, as Ragland has remained close with Meghan since she wed Harry.
“Thomas’ attempt to bring Doria into the whole thing is a desperate move,” a source told The Sun, adding that Meghan is “furious” and Ragland is an “innocent party” in the rift.
“They don’t want Doria dragged into any of this and to become a pawn for Thomas to use. Doria doesn’t do conflict.”
The source added that if Meghan ever does decide to reach out to her father it will be on the duchess’ own terms, not because anyone – not even her mother – advises her to.
But the chances of a reunion between the estranged father and daughter are growing slimmer by the day, as Markle threatens to do “monthly interviews” about Meghan until she agrees to speak with him.
He has blatantly disregarded Meghan’s many requests for privacy, going to the press again this week with multiple major interviews about his daughter and Prince Harry.
“After this interview, if I don’t hear from someone in 30 days then I will try again,” he told Good Morning Britain.
He later lashed out at the couple in a TMZ prime-time special called Harry & Meghan: The Royals in Crisis, which is set to air on Fox News in the coming days.
“I think that Harry is a very insecure man and I think that’s being shifted on to my daughter… I think she winds up mothering him,” he said in a preview clip on Daily Mail TV.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Markle is also planning to testify against Meghan in court in the coming months, appearing as a witness for a newspaper the duchess is suing after it published excerpts of a letter she sent him.
“I wish it hadn’t come to this, but I will certainly testify against the things that have been said about me,” Markle told The Sun.
“The lies. It will be emotional. I don’t know how we will both accept it. It would be the worst place to have to meet her and Harry.”
With Markle’s track record, it looks like a courtroom is the only place he’ll be meeting his daughter and her husband in the foreseeable future.
