A Melbourne police station has offered free toilet paper to those who may be missing out – with one condition.
Warrandyte Police Station, in the city’s north east, has retained a small supply of toilet paper from a local IGA for people with restricted mobility or disabilities who may be caught short.
“There are people in this community that are not mobile enough to go from store to store to find toilet paper,” Warrandyte Police said in post on Facebook.
Police are encouraging people to use the code word “cupcake” if they need toilet paper, but are too embarrassed to ask for it.
“If you are in dire need or know someone who is, please drop in and collect a roll or two,” the post read.
“If you come into Warrandyte Police Station and ask for a ‘cupcake’ or two – we will know what you mean.
“We simply ask for a smile in return.”
The station is also accepting “cupcake” donations from those who may have hoarded too many rolls.
