Victoria is on track to experience its coldest April day in more than two decades as the state braces for heavy rainfall and possibly even snow.
Temperatures are set to reach just 13 degrees on Thursday and Friday, an April low not recorded since 1996, Bureau of Meteorology Victoria senior meteorologist Keris Arndt said.
Mr Arndt said significant rain would start to develop ahead of a cold front that could result in thunderstorms and flash flooding, particularly in the north-east of the state. The cold air following the rain could also bring snow on Thursday.
Rain totals on Wednesday in the north-east regions could reach up to 120mm, with severe weather warnings likely to be issued for flash flooding and strong winds.
